Testimonials
From the very start, Ripple has been built on the simple belief that a truly positive and personal experience of learning early in life can be one of the most valuable things a child can receive.
Whether it’s our own students, or those we are able to help through our annual X% profit donation to charity, we strive to provide this to as many children as possible.
We have primarily grown due to word of mouth referrals from happy parents—so we think it’s better that you hear directly from them! You can see some of our lovely testimonials below.
“I would have baulked at the suggestion of tutoring sessions when I was a child but, looking back, I can honestly say I wish my parents had found me a Jamie.
Committing to regular tutoring sessions is a lot to ask of any child – it’s akin to being told you need to find a second job – but our daughter’s time with Jamie quickly became a highlight of her week.
Our daughter can be shy and reticent – she’s the girl in class who knows some of the answers and wants to join in, but will sit back and let others say their piece and take the glory. It’s only as adults we realise the lifelong limitation this approach will have on us. What Jamie has done is help bring our daughter out of her shell and show off the amazing personality we see behind closed doors. He’s an excellent teacher – I often listen from another room (I am awful at maths and he’s taught me a lot) – but his powers go far beyond teaching maths and English. He has a wonderful, sunny, can-do attitude that has brought out the very best in our daughter. Yes he will expect your child to work hard and buckle down, but he will foster in them a desire to learn and impress. Our daughter has always finished a session full of beans, positive, and happy. It’s an investment we’re sure will pay off for the rest of her life.“

“We learned about Ripple Learning when a leaflet was posted through our door, advertising a summer course to be held in our local area to teach 11+, at the very same time we were contemplating the 11+ for our daughter and considered tuition to specifically help with this. Also, after missing several months of schooling due to lockdown, we had concerns about our daughter’s wellbeing and how much of a gap there may have been in her academic progress. Usually, the leaflets that arrive here swiftly end up in the recycling bin, but I’m glad we took a closer look at the one from Ripple Learning – it has ultimately proven to be of great benefit to us!
When phoning for further details about the course, I spoke with Jamie for the first time and found him to be very sincere, engaging and particularly helpful towards answering my questions. I immediately sensed that Jamie and his company could be of great help towards our daughter’s educational development, not only for preparing for the 11+ exams, but in general.
With our concerns in mind, Jamie very kindly offered to undertake an assessment our daughter. Subsequently meeting Jamie at our home further cemented my positive view of him, on both a professional and personal level. His assessment was particularly helpful for us and identified the areas where our daughter’s learning could be enhanced, as well as highlighting her strengths, which was most reassuring and encouraging.
Ever since then, Jamie has provided our daughter with one-to-one tutoring, which has brought great rewards. Our daughter’s SATS and end-of-year exam results showed an immense improvement. At school, she has since excelled at English and Maths in particular – she rose from the bottom set in Year 5 Maths to now, in Year 7, be in the top set. This year her school nominated her for the UK Maths Challenge, for which she achieved a great result.
Her self-discipline and dedication to her schoolwork has improved dramatically, since being tutored by Jamie, and we believe her confidence, both on an academic and personal level, owes much to the effect Jamie’s tuition has had.
Our daughter looks forward to Jamie’s lessons and his methods clearly make the learning more engaging and enjoyable. He makes use of intervention tools, such as numbers games, which help to maintain her focus and interest.
Prior to her lesson, our daughter will now proactively identify areas where she requires help, to then raise these with Jamie, who in turn will works through the difficulties with her, in a way that she can remember and feel confident to independently tackle the same type of challenge next time around.
As parents, appointing Jamie and Ripple Learning has relieved us of much stress, by having a high quality and personalised learning structure provided for our daughter in a way we could just never have established ourselves. This has helped our daughter become far more independent with her school work and has kept her on track with her school syllabus overall. For us, it has given us a more methodical means of supporting her with homework, assignments, test and exam preparation, etc, when needed.
It has been great to see the positive effect Jamie’s tuition has had on our daughter and because of our positive experience, we have recommended Ripple Learning to other parents (which has resulted in at least one child we know of subsequently receiving regular tuition) and we will not hesitate in doing so again in the future. For any parents who feel their child might need that extra help with their schooling, our recommendation would be to contact Ripple Learning, outline their concerns, arrange a one-to-one assessment and take it from there.
“My son has thrived as a result of Jamie’s enthusiastic delivery of all things maths and literacy over a two year period.
After an initial assessment, Jamie managed our expectations as our son was at a state primary school and didn’t start tutoring until the beginning of year five. Thankfully our son did well in the 11+ exams, better than we expected, and he starts at a great independent school this September.
Jamie has an exuberant, fun but firm approach to learning which really resonated with our son. Jamie managed to turn our son’s learning approach around from ‘I can’t do this’ to really enjoying the challenge of GCSE level maths by the end of year six and finishing at the top of his class for SATs.
We continued with our tutoring sessions until the end of year six for continuity but mostly because our son just really enjoyed his sessions with Jamie.
We look forward to seeing Jamie in September 2025 when my daughter starts with him at the beginning of year three! Until then, I would thoroughly recommend Ripple Learning to all parents.”

“We have known and worked with Jamie for nearly four years, spanning over our two children’s journeys for both of their 11+ entrance exam processes.
In our experience, Jamie has been really adaptive at working with our two children who are very different characters and have very different strengths academically.
It is testament to him that he adapted his way of working to best suit both children and also initially with child 1 adapt to the Covid restrictions of learning remotely and also taking the exams and interviews process online. Which at the time was an unknown entity!
Jamie really helped our son to believe in himself, which was the missing link to him reaching his full potential. He boosted his confidence which in turn helped him to believe he could, and resulted in him accepting an offer for his first choice school and being invited to sit for the chance to be awarded a maths scholarship.
He overcame the limitations he was setting on himself with his lack of confidence in his ability.
N really enjoyed his sessions with Jamie, from the games they played, general chats and being able to relate to him. It was important for us to match N with a tutor who he felt he could look up to, and relate to and who maybe did not mirror some of his teachers from school!
Jamie is very approachable, super responsive and takes the time to get to know your child and you, as a family unit, which again benefits the learning experience and makes what can be a stressful process feel like it is anchored with a direction and plan. This is also why we chose to re-engage with Jamie when it was time for child 2 to sit the 11+.
Giving access to both kids Atom platforms meant that Jamie was super engaged and would often set a session around gaps that had come to light during the week at school or that could boost certain modules / areas. This really helped E who had a very different learning journey to N.
E sets very high expectations on herself, gets super frustrated if everything is not perfect first time, so can be tricky to keep engaged or to give instruction to, when she knows best!
Jamie worked really well with E and she put him through his paces! Covid had left her with some gaps in basic maths, so was making it hard for her to understand more complex methods. Jamie’s patience and use of different methodologies unlocked the blocks or lack of knowledge in certain areas, for E to excel. She received offers for every school bar one that she sat for (which was her one stretch school) so was extremely lucky to be able to have her pick and choose her first choice school.“
